The
Loralea Country Inn Resort is your popular
Winter Ontario Resort offering accommodations in cottages
and cabins for winter vacations, family reunions and weekend
getaways while (x-skiing) learning skiing in the Haliburton Highlands
of Ontario Canada.
Skiing Cross Country
is one of many popular family activities and like any activity you have
to learn the fundamentals before hitting the Haliburton skiing
trails.
Now there is a service for most Haliburton resorts supplied by Ski
For Life, they will come to the resort grounds and supply skiing lessons
for a group of people or your family members.
SKI FOR LIFE provides x-skiing lessons while focusing upon the development
of fundamental skiing skills, teaching not only the importance of physical
fitness but also demonstrating cross country skiing as
an active winter lifestyle. The friendly and competition-free approach
used provides a comfortable learning environment that is appealing to
beginner, novice, and intermediate skiers of all ages. No experience
is necessary.
The
Loralea is your family winters resort offering accommodations in sevenhousekeeping cottages or cabins
fully winterized with electric heat and most with wood burning fireplaces
ranging from a four bedroom cottage to one bedroom studio cabins.
The grounds has other activities for the children such as a skating
rink on the lake, hill for tobogganing for the family or snowboarding.
Ice fishing is also available within a five minute walk from your cottages
or cabins.

Since
1998, CANSI certified instructor Dan Mahony has been encouraging the
young and old alike to discover the rich and rewarding experience of
Haliburton cross (x-skiing) country skiing with SKI FOR LIFE. With Canadians
being at risk for cardiovascular disease now, more than ever, it is
critically important to achieve a certain degree of physical fitness
all year round - especially in the cold Ontario winter months when it
is tempting to stay indoors.
They will provide ski instructions in the form of individual or group
sessions such as birthdays or planning
a family reunion Idea.
Included with the sessions is the necessary equipment needed for a
successful day of skiing. Warm comfortable boots and step-in bindings
are available (not the old 3-pin style) as well as the skis themselves
and poles. The included rentals make it unnecessary for the newcomers
to make a large equipment investment before trying to ski. Past participants
have enjoyed the outings to the extent that many are anxious to go out
and purchase their own equipment.
Single Day or Two Day Sessions
The Ski instructor will come to you at the resort, sessions will have
indoor periods interspersed for instruction, videos and breaks in a
relaxed convivial atmosphere. A timetable for this extended period can
be set up by Dan in collaboration with a group organizer to accommodate
people of a variety of fitness levels. Some may require more recovery
time than others.
Ski For Life is a very flexible service and they are more then willing
to accommodate your needs.
Correct technique allows you to ski better & farther, providing
the best possible cardiovascular workout
