Autumn starts mid September to early December then comes the snow if it's not already here.
Fall in Canada some call it autumn, my favorite time of the year. September brings cooler temperatures which provides relief from the heat of August and the maple and oak leaves on the trees begin their transformation to blended shades of orange, red and yellow.
Many people travel to take in this spectacular fall foliage in Canada and the Haliburton Highlands offer this colour change in early October where as the Algonquin Park maple trees are at their best at the end of September or early October. The aspens, tamaracks and red oaks reach their peak in the middle or end of October.
Fall Colours - Haliburton to Huntsville Route
Many people ask what is the best route to take to see the fall colours and when. There are many routes, below this is just one route and the best time of year to travel usually is the first of October for best colours.
- Take Highway 11 north to Highway 118 east
- Travel east on 118 to Highway 35 and at Carnarvon proceed south on 35 to Minden
- Take 121 east to the picturesque village of Haliburton, then take Highway 118 west from Haliburton Village back to Highway 35.
- Proceed north on highway #35 for 7 minutes to Halls Lake and that's where our small country resort is located
- Proceed further north to the village of Dorset, to the Lookout Tower at Dorset
- Proceed north on 35 to Dwight and go west on Highway 60 to Huntsville
- Return home via Highway 11 from Huntsville or head on over to Algonquin Park which would be another days adventure.

Check in 3:00 PM - Check out is 11:00 AM - flexible with advance notice
- Mid week fall vacation rates are from Sunday to Thursday
- Weekends are Friday and Saturday nights, holiday weekends are 3 nights at weekend rate
- Extra person room charge is $20 per day or $100 weekly over room rate capacity up to max capacity
- Day visitors will be charged an admission of $10 per day, please register at front office
- Pet friendly accommodations - Pets are welcomed with advanced notice, rules do apply - short leashes at all times - clean up after pets - not to be left alone in cabin - not allowed on furniture - not to be annoying to other guest - not allowed on beach area at any time - these rules must be adhered to for the comfort & safety of all

- All rooms are housekeeping, linen and towels are provided upon arrival - bring bath sheets
- All rentals have their own fire pit with firewood till the snow comes
- TV, VCR's are available, small movie collection
- Wireless highspeed at all cottages and cabins

- Safe swimming and sandy beach area for all resort guests, please bring your own beach towel
- Deck overlooking the lake for all resort guests to sit and relax
- Badminton, volley ball, horseshoes, shuffle board for all, fenced in children's play area til end of September
- Indoor fireplaces for that romantic weekend away in #1, #2, #3 and #6, firewood provided for all rentals
