We must Recycle - It's our future - Haliburton Highlands has a mandatory recycle by-law in place. The following is a resort guide line for what is expected to meet the recycle requirements of the township by-law.

When full please drop off at garbage area and get an empty bin.

 

What goes in these blue bins

Paper products, news paper, paper egg cartons, cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, polycoat milk and juice cartons, tetrapak drinking boxes

Container - glass and plastic bottles, metal beverage and food cans, aluminum trays and foil

Mixed Plastics - margarine, ice cream, yogurt, ketchup, peanut butter and shampoo bottles

Styrofoam - Meat trays, bakery trays, plastic and foam cups, fast food containers

Please no food waste, we have to sort the waste when we take it to the dump

Household Waste

There is a blue trailer under the pine and cedar trees beside the wood shed that is for household garbage. Every rental unit has garbage pails inside with new clear bags in the bottom of the pail. As part of the by-law clear bags must be used. When the bags are full please take them to the blue trailer but not after 8 pm because the trailer is sealed up so the animals do not have a good feast and mess up the yard. Please do not leave household garbage outside all night as you'll find a good mess to clean up the next morning.

You will notice the yard does not have garbage pails all over. Everyone is expected to clean up your garbage as the day goes by. You will notice black tins every where for the smokers, please do not put garbage in these black containers because then it's a fire hazard.
