The early settlers were drawn here by the vast timber resources of the Highlands. The Gull River flows gentle through the village, a big change from the shouts of lumberjacks floating huge white pines to the mills.
When the timber resources were depleted, the early settlers turned to
farming which then turned into a popular tourist destination for visitors
and cottage owners supporting the communities growth. It's now Ontario's
vacation playground in the Haliburton Highlands.
Resort Minden Accommodation
The Loralea Country Inn Resort is just one of many accommodation providers in the area with family cottages and studio cabins on Halls Lake. Many of our resort guests use Minden for their shopping of food and supplies while others are just visiting the area either on business or participating in a sporting event in the area. The Loralea is comprised of two cottages and five studio cabins which promotes a quiet relaxing atmosphere while still enjoying their stay with us.
