We are located on Halls Lake in the Haliburton Highlands, Central Ontario
between Minden and Huntsville on highway #35. Approx. 2 1/2 hours from
Toronto.
The resort is comprised of two cottages and five studio cabins, most
with fireplaces.
Well treed four acre lot with a great tobogganing hill.... winter fun
for the kids. Yes the parents enjoy it too, its just the walk back up
to the top, sorry no chair lift.
This
winter resort offers winterized housekeeping cottages and studio cabins
for rent while you come to snowmobile the Haliburton trails or ski the
nearby slopes.
Snowmobiling in Ontario has been one of the popular winter activities
for many years. Have fun on the hundreds of miles of groomed OFSC snowmobile
trails for you to explore and discover on your winter holidays.
Haliburton County Snowmobile Association (HCSA) and Tall Pines Snowmobile
Club (TPSC) in Dorset are your guides for snowmobiling in the Haliburton
and Muskoka area.

If you have your own machines or are willing to rent them from a local
supplier then we have access from the resort to trail #15. Snowmobile
rentals are available in the area and we have trailer parking
on site.
If your a novice snowmobilier and don't have snowmobile machines then
we suggest you consider the Haliburton Forest for this resource. Snowmobiling
the Haliburton Forest is the only privately owned snowmobiling operation
in the world. Its 60,000 acres of forest wilderness with 50 lakes and
numerous ponds and creeks make it a snowmobiling wonderland.
It was recently rated by "Supertrax" as one of the top-10 snowmobiling
destinations in North America. What's good about this for the novice rider
is that you get everything you need from one place to enjoy this winter
sport.

Family Cross Country Skiing on Your Weekend Holidays
Cross-country
skiing is available nearby from this Resort at these trails, Moosewoods
Trails, Leslie Frost Centre and Main Trail System. Map trails are available

We suggest for great cross country skiing for your family is at the Ski
for Friends just 7 minutes away from us and for a warm up you can
ski the lake.
For great cross-country skiing visit the Leslie Frost Nordic Ski Centre
on Ontario's Haliburton Highlands - Muskoka border. Seven stacked loops
of trails provide access to a winter wonderland that features rugged terrain,
mixed hardwood forests, majestic stands of white pine and hemlock, cliff
top lookouts and frozen waterfalls.
You will find 25 km of trails groomed for classic skiing and two warm-up
huts. The Haliburton Highlands Water Trails across Hwy. 35 from Leslie
Frost Centre will be offering snowshoe and ski rentals and hot drinks
open from 10 am to 3 PM daily. Trail fees are very reasonable and season
passes are available. We have daily passes at the resort.

Your
family winter cottage getaway
at this resort can be sitting in a warm hut, sheltered from the cold wind
and blowing snow, a world that is peaceful, it's like watching a fire
but no flames, all you have is your tip-ups stationed near you and the
dream of the big one (Lake Trout).
After the days adventure its back to the resort for a homecooked meal
and a sit down by the fireplace with a good book.
Try your luck or test your skills at ice fishing for lake trout on Halls
Lake, one of the deepest lakes in Ontario.
Sorry but we do not have ice huts out for insurance reasons. You can
bring your own portable huts and fish the lake at no cost or we can make
arrangements for you on the next lake for ice huts.
Dogsledding Haliburton - Canadian Cottage Holiday Adventures
Want a new adventure, try this out, a day with a Haliburton dogsledding
team, back to the family resort for a homecooked meal and finishing in
front of the fireplace in your cottage rental. Guaranteed you'll
sleep that night.
Winterdance is a dog sled tour company that operates out of Highlands
and is owned and operated by husband and wife team Hank DeBruin and Tanya
McCready-DeBruin.
They have one-hour tours, half-day tours, full day tours and many other
options. You'll get the basics of dog sledding, enjoy Haliburton dogsledding
from the basket of the sled, novices are welcome, as you will be given
complete instructions on rudimentary dogsledding skills.
The Haliburton Forest also has Dogsledding Adventures. The Haliburton
Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd consists of 60.000 acres of forested,
rolling hills interspersed with more than 50 lakes and hundreds of wetlands.
Winding through the forest are more than 300 kilometers of groomed trails
making this a dogsledders paradise. Quests will not require prior dogsledding
experience their professional guides will introduce you to the basics
of dogsledding in order to ensure that you will have a safe and enjoyable
dogsledding excursion.
Looking for a breath taking adventure whether it is for a magical romantic
outing for two or a fun time family adventure, a good old fashion sleigh
ride will be an experience one won't soon forget.

Snowshoeing

Snowboarding
is a growing winter sport and it's only a thirty minute drive from the
resort. Sir Sam's with twelve downhill skiing runs and one snowboarding
run and six lifts.
Snowboarding can be done on the resort grounds as seen in the picture
where the kids built there own jumps and enjoyed endless hours of fun.
The hill is great for small kids learning to snowboard or get out the
toboggans and GT's.
